Adult Summer Reading 2026

Because summer isn’t something you outgrow

June 16-August 16

Even as an adult, it’s still the season for challenges, exploration, fun, and prizes. And this is no ordinary summer: with the World Cup bringing fútbol fever to our doorstep and the country celebrating its 250th birthday, we've designed brand new challenges to suit the special occasions.

This summer, we challenge you to:

  • Read books and watch movies from 6 countries around the globe in the Library World Championship Challenge
  • Read at least 20 minutes a day for 30 days in the Build a Reading Habit Challenge.
  • Attend one historical program and read/watch one US history-themed library resource in the Rev250 Challenge. Try your hand at one or all of these. Get fun new library swag for reaching milestones and completing challenges, and with each activity, earn tickets towards the big end-of-summer raffle prize.

So, whether your goal is to cultivate a reading habit, broaden your cultural horizons, or dive deeper into this country’s history, the library will be here to cheer you on all the way to the finish line.

It’s still the season for challenges, exploration, fun–and yes, the season for prizes! And Summer 2026 is no ordinary summer, with the country celebrating its 250th birthday and the World Cup bringing fútbol fever to our doorstep; we’ve designed brand-new challenges to suit these special occasions. So whether your goal is to cultivate a reading habit, broaden your horizons, or dive deeper into a topic that fascinates you, the Adult Summer Program will be here to cheer you on all the way to the finish line.
